About the Club
The Sun City West Lady Putters Club is patterned after similar clubs in other locales. It was founded by Leslie Knox in 2002 and was accepted as a Chartered Club of the Recreation Centers of Sun city West, Inc. Our main purpose is to enjoy the camaraderie of friends and neighbors while developing and enhancing our putting skills on the natural grass of a golf course green.
Our putting competitions are held on ‘Wednesday mornings at the Grandview Golf Course. Our times are arranged to avoid interference with the Wednesday events of the Men’s golf club. We dress in white attire, accented by our burgundy-on-white name badges and our burgundy colored putting aprons. On Buddy Day, the last Wednesday of the month, Lady Putters may wear any colors of their choice instead of white. This includes shirts, shorts, slacks, jackets, shoes and hats. All previously listed dress code rule apply. We lay out an 18-hole, par 36, putting course on the large practice green, and we accommodate as many as 144 players in a “shotgun” start. Scores are recorded, individual “handicaps” are derived over a period of time, and members compete for prize money for holes-in-one and for low net scores in their handicap-grouped “flights”. We follow our putting rules strictly, we do not line our putts or take practice swings, and the surrounding atmosphere is not necessarily quiet. We have fun and get to know others with interests in common with ours.
Every three months we have a General Meeting and Awards Luncheon. At the luncheon, we award prizes for low scores and special accomplishments that have accumulated during the previous quarter of competition. And, from time to time, we stage special events for the enjoyment of our members. We are headquartered at the Grandview Golf Course where we have the Club’s official Bulletin Board.
