ABOUT THE CLUB
The Sun City West Lady Putters, was founded by Leslie Knox in 2002 and was accepted as a Charted Club of the Recreation Centers of Sun City West, Inc. Our main purpose is to enjoy the camaraderie of friends and neighbors while developing and enhancing our putting skills on the natural grass of a golf course green.
We have a website – https://ladyputters.scwclubs.com/ – and is a valuable source of information regarding upcoming events, minutes of Board Meetings, General Meetings and weekly competition results.
Our putting competitions are held on Wednesday mornings at the Grandview Golf Course. Our times are arranged to avoid interference with the Wednesday events of the Men’s golf club. We originally dressed in all-white attire accented by our burgundy aprons and white name badges. In 2020 the club voted to no longer require the all-white attire and allow members to wear clothing allowed by the Golf Clubs of Sun City West.
After Check-In is closed, all players gather to be briefed on current Club matters by the officer in charge. They will go to their assigned hole and form groups of two. When the officer in charge determines that all groups are ready, she will blow the starting whistle for game play to begin.
We lay out an 18-hole, par 36 putting course on the large practice green and we accommodate as many as 144 players in a shotgun start.
Scores are recorded, individual handicaps are derived over a period of time and members compete for prize money for holes-in-one and for low net scores in their handicap-grouped flights.
We follow our putting rules strictly, we do not line up our putts or take practice swings and the surrounding atmosphere is not necessarily quiet. We have fun and get to know others with interests in common with ours.
Every three months we have a General Meeting and Awards Luncheon. At the luncheon, we award prizes for low scores and special accomplishments which have accumulated during the previous quarter of competition. From time to time, we stage special events for the enjoyment of our members. We are headquartered at the Grandview Golf Course, where we have the Club’s Official Bulletin Board.
